Zeiss Victory 8x56 T*FL (1 Viewer)

Hi all, just after a bit of advice please.

I have these 8x56 Zeiss T*FL's and they are just amazing, and still in as new condition.
I feel that the collimation may be just a hairs breadth out, but it is so slight I have friends who cannot detect it, but I think I can.
Can this be checked, or verified, and can it be adjusted. If so by who??
It may well be that they are deemed to be ok, but it's just nagging at me.
As they are such a high end optic, I feel better getting a check.
Any ideas.
Thanks in advance.
Rob

Hi Rg548, intrigued by this as I sold my 8x56 T*FLs just a month ago and they were in as new condition in an unmarked black cordura Zeiss case - i.e. the previous owner must have removed the Zeiss blue emblem, for security reasons no doubt. IF they are the same ones I am sure their collimation was spot on as they were among the best glass I have used; I just found them too heavy in practice. No harm in asking Gary to check them though. He did check them in 2019; they were in correct adjustment and they had only light and careful use since then. But of course they may not be the same ones! Mine ended up last month at Ace Optics.

All the best,
Tom

HI Tom, yes they are the same ones. Having used them solely since bought, and then going back to my Swaros, its the swaros that seem a smidge out if anything. It may just be my eyes. They are incredible optics, to be fair. I got Ace Optics down on price, so was able to pick up a brand new Zeiss bag, and strap, which I got for a bargain price after hunting around, so all is good.
Heavy indeed, but probably worth the hassle, and the first time I have ventured into 56mm territory.
I also tried what I think were your 7x42 EDG's. In my humble opinion, not a patch on the Zeiss. Quite surprised after all I'd read on the EDG's.

Hi Tom,
Just an update.
Gary at East Coast Optics has adjusted these binoculars. They were out of alignment, but to be fair, he said very slight, and most people wouldn't notice.
I know I have sensitive eyes, so I'm glad I got them seen to.
Interestingly, I was at a dealer recently looking through some brand new Vortex Razor UHD's which I thought were slightly out. He didn't agree, but took them to office, and emerged 10 minutes later, saying that they were actually out.... I guess they're going back!
Anyway, the Zeiss 56's should be landing back with me today, and what surprised me most was that Zeiss have covered all costs. I can't quite believe that on a 10year old binocular!
Fantastic service.

Hi Rg548,

I'm glad the 8x56s found a good home. I loved them but after two to three years faced the fact that for me the size and weight got in the way for my non-specialist style of birding and nature watching, whereas the 32s and 7x42s I have (also T*FLs) are perfect for my needs, along with one or two other items... and so I also decided to let the EDGs go, though actually I liked those very much in all respects.

Yes, the Zeiss service is excellent; under that arrangement Gary also serviced my 1990s Dialyt BGAT*P* (another 7x42, with very good handling, balance & image quality) completely free of charge.

I have also been very impressed by Ace over the years; they have always given a fair price and supplied good photographic kit as well.

Hi Rob,
I love my 8x56 T* FL's. I use my Swarovski 10x50 EL's more mostly because they afford more eye relief with my glasses, but I can't bring myself to part with the 8x56 FL's as I consider them to be the high-water mark of Zeiss's modern binoculars. I hope you get yours sorted out to your satisfaction.

All the best
Bob

HI Bob, yes all sorted, they were very slightly out, but East Coast Optics have serviced and perfectly aligned them. They are awesome optics....quite incredible!
