Zeiss Victory sf 8x42 used (1 Viewer)

That’s terrible. I have to tell you I’m shocked that they described all the glass to being in good condition. I would definitely make a complaint during the return process. Maybe they’ll give you a small discount on some of the purchase , I certainly would ask just because of the inconvenience they put you through.

Hi Jorge,

It's completely incomprehensible to me how a seller can describe these binoculars as "all good"!

These scratches are so pronounced that they certainly impair visibility.

Just send them back and get your money back, the eyepiece lenses are ruined.

Andreas

Even if they were in mint condition, which they clearly are not, the price is certainly no bargain. Stay light years away from that pair of bins.

It makes you wonder if the photos were even of the same binocular.
According to the dealer's pictures and Jorge's pictures, an identical serial number can be seen.

However, with certain lighting influences, scratches on photographs can be somewhat covered up.

Nevertheless, if you look closely you can see the same scratches on the left eyepiece in the photos from the dealer.

The question remains whether a completely incompetent salesman offered this glass or whether they wanted to foist a ruined pair of binoculars on an inexperienced customer!?

Yes, these are the Victory Sf 8x42 from B&H the Gray model. The pictures they send me it seems to be cool but the were scratch and one the eyecups is not coming out easily.

It looks pretty good through the glass, better that my Nikons M7

I send them a email already, just waiting for an answer.
B&H sent me one of the dirtiest, even damaged pair of Zeiss FL's last month. Sand or grit in the focuser, grimy armor, and a sizable dent above one objective. All that and they rated them 9 out of 10 condition!

I promptly returned them for a full refund, which they carried out quickly. I would recommend you do the same.

Midway USA has like new Demo's for $50 less.

Conndomat,

I noticed the same thing when enlarging the dealer pictures of the left ocular lens before reading your post. Though less obvious than on the OP's follow up pictures, the scratches can be seen especially when enlarging the dealer pictures. I agree with others here, the condition of the lens is completely unacceptable and especially given the description.

That said, I have at least two "used" bins from B&H which arrived in mint, or pristine, or at a minimum open box condition. It may be an incompetent or careless salesman as you suggest. Here's hoping B&H will make this right by the OP and I believe they will.

Very surprised to hear that about B&H Photo -- have bought lots of stuff from them for more than 25 years and never a problem.

I have had no issues with them before this time, mostly stereo equipment. I give them credit for the smooth return. They relisted them as an 8. Should have been a 5 or 6 tops. $1399 and they were trashed.

Everyone has a bad day, I would use BH again but after seeing this SF, yikes they need to tighten up the used optics dept.

I wouldn’t trust them with my business if they’re going to relist it in that condition, without making specific mention of the scratches, etc. That’s just dishonest.
