ZRS 8x32 HD specs? (1 Viewer)

I would go with ZR in a "New York Second" but just for "discussion" (knowing that Chinese factories contract with different brands for the same or similar bins) I couldn't help but notice the similarities between these and the Celestron Trailseeker line:

Celestron Trailseeker 8x32

Prism Type Roof
Magnification 8.0x
Objective Lens Diameter 32 mm
Angle of View 7.8° (actual)
Field-of-View 409' @ 1000 yd / 135.79 m @ 1000 m
Minimum Focus Distance 6.5' / 1.98 m
Exit Pupil Diameter 4 mm
Eye Relief 15.6 mm
Interpupillary Adjustment 56 - 73 mm / 2.20 - 2.87"
Dioptric Correction Not Specified By Manufacturer
Focus Type Center
Tripod Mount Yes (Adapter Optional)
Dimensions 4.8 x 4.8 x 1.9" / 12.19 x 12.19 x 4.83 cm
Weight 16 oz / 454 g

Zen Ray 8x32 ZRS HD

Dimension (HxW) 4.7" (L)x4.4" (W)
Weatherproofing Waterproof/Fogproof
Magnification 8x
Field of View 409ft/1000yards
Eye Relief 15.6mm
Close Focus 6 ft
Weight 15.5 oz
Interpupilary distance (IPD in mm) 56-73

I highlighted the EXACT matches, and the others are so close it seems like SLIGHTLY different glass or exterior coverings could be the differences... They also look very similar if you choose to do an image search...

Again-I would go with the ZR and I'm not trying to make any "allegation" here other than what is stated-the two are so similar they almost certainly have to be related...

ZRs warranty and Charles' participation here makes it a "no-brainer"... :t:

Good catch. Compare specs and photos and they are the same thing, more or less. Plus, I notice that Eagle Optics just got the Trailseekers in stock.

I definitely want to see one or the other of these, mainly for that super light weight.

Sorry about the small ER, would have liked at least 20mm, maybe complicated to design...How many people use spectacles in the world ? |8)|

See : http://glassescrafter.com/information/percentage-population-wears-glasses.html

According to the Vision Council of America, approximately 75% of adults use some sort of vision correction. About 64% of them wear eyeglasses, and about 11% wear contact lenses, either exclusively, or with glasses. Over half of all women and about 42% of men wear glasses. Similarly, more women than men, 18% and 14% respectively, wear contacts. Of those who use both contacts and eyeglasses, 62% wear contact lenses more often.

The dissimilarities tell me that it is more likely these are two different instruments. They don't even look alike.

Anders,

I hear you.

Optical engineers have certain degree of freedom to balance the following characters: FOV, ER, weight, complexity of design, cost, size. I have no doubt that 20mm ER can be achieved for midsize binoculars. But ZRS HD is not designed to compete with $2000 Swarovision 8x32. Neither was it budgeted to allow 20oz on its body mass. From our testing, it should work with most of eyeglasses wearers with its 16mm ER.

Thanks a lot for your feedback

Charles
