Africa
Eastern Africa: found in Somalia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi Southern Africa: Zimbabwe, South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal and Swaziland

Poicephalus cryptoxanthus has two 2 subspecies:

  • P. c. tanganyikae
  • P. c. cryptoxanthus
