Distribution
Asia: found in China, Tibet, Nepal
South Asia: India, Eastern and Western Himalayas, Bangladesh, Bhutan
South-east Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Island of Borneo, Indonesia, Greater Sundas, Sumatra, Java, Sulawesi, Lesser Sundas, Bali

Subspecies
There are 8 subspecies[1]:
- F.w.collini Himalayas (Nepal to Sikkim); > to plains of India
- F.w.australorientis Himalayas (Bhutan to southern China, northern Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina)
- F.w.langbianis South Laos (Langbian Plateau) and Vietnam
- F.w.westermanni South Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi and Mindanao
- F.w.hasselti South Sumatra, Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores and southern Sulawesi
- F.w.mayri East Lesser Sundas (Timor and Wetar)
- F.w.rabori North Philippines (Luzon, Negros and Panay)
- F.w.palawanensis Mountains of southern Palawan (south-western Philippines)
Habitat
They breed in broadleaf deciduous and evergreen forests at heights between 1200 m and 3000 m in the Himalayas.
Behaviour
Diet
Although not well known, their diet consists of small invertebrates and larvae, mostly flies, beetles and weevils.
Breeding
Their cup-shaped nest is constructed from moss, plant fibres, rootlets anddry sedges. It is built by both the adults.
