Western Africa: Angola
Eastern Africa: Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya
Taxonomy
Placed in genus Serinus by Clements.
Subspecies
This is a polytypic species, consisting of two subspecies[1]:
- C. c. citrinelloides:
- C. c. kikuyensis:
- Highlands of south and south-western Kenya
A third subspecies Crithagra citrinelloides martinsi is recognised by some authorities.[2]

Highland forest edges.
Behaviour

Their diet consists of seeds, berries, leaves, buds and insects.
