Disambiguation: this species has sometimes been called "Spectacled Weaver", but that name is usually used for Ploceus ocularis.

Identification
Similar Species
Should be separated with care from the Spectacled Weaver where both occur (eastern Nigeria and western Cameroon). Olive-naped Weaver shows more olive and less yellow on the head (especially the crown area in females) and a thicker bill.
Distribution
Africa: Senegal to Nigeria and western Cameroon; winters in Bioko
Taxonomy
Formerly included in Black-necked Weaver.

This is a monotypic species[1].
