Identification
12.5 cm. Brown upperparts, pink-brown underparts, becoming greyer with age, dark brown cap and bib. Sexes similar. Juveniles duller.
Distribution
Endemic to Iran.
Taxonomy
Polytypic. Consists of two subspecies.
Formerly treated as subspecies of Sombre Tit.
Habitat
Deciduous mountain forests.
Behaviour
It nests in holes in decayed trees, lined with fur, wood chips, or hair. 5-7 white, red spotted eggs are laid.
The diet inclues seeds, insects and caterpillars.
Vocalisation
Call: zsit, and chev chev.
