Identification

16–18 cm (6¼-7 in) Male

  • Blackish-brown overall plumage

Distribution

South-easte Asia: found in peninsular Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Siberut Island and Borneo

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Broadleaved evergreen forest, gardens and cultivation, peat-swamp forest and overgrown plantations, up to 1800 m.

Behaviour

Diet

Their main diet consists of fruits; they also eat caterpillars and insects.
