Distribution

South America: found in the Andes of western Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba and western Santa Cruz).

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species^[1]; an additional subspecies bejaranoi is not accepted by all authorities^[3].

Moved to genus Asthenes by Clements (2010)^[1] and IOC (2010)^[1].

Habitat

Moist montanes and high-altitude grassland.
