Identification

Both male and female has green back and central tail feathers, three white outer tail feather, and shows rufous on the shoulder of the folded wing. Male is dark in most of head and underside. Female has small white spot behind eye and mostly white underside

Distribution

Caribbean slope of Costa Rica and Panama.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species1.

Habitat

Mid to high elevation with wet forest, edges and clearings.

Behaviour

Nectar eater that naturally prefer flowers with relatively short tube-shaped flowers, but it willingly visits feeders.
