The taxonomy of the Audubon's/[[Little Shearwater]] complex is likely to be revised soon (see the [http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=97244 Discussion thread for this species]). For example, the Galapagos Shearwater (''P. l. subalaris'', illustrated here) is "now known to differ strikingly both in DNA (with high support), physiology and voice from the members of the Audubon's/Little complex.  Indeed, they're not even the closest relatives of the Galapagos Shearwater, which actually is closer to the Christmas Shearwater." ([http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=97244 Boegh, 2007]).

Taxonomy

The taxonomy of the Audubon's/Little Shearwater complex is likely to be revised soon (see the Discussion thread for this species). For example, the Galapagos Shearwater (P. l. subalaris, illustrated here) is "now known to differ strikingly both in DNA (with high support), physiology and voice from the members of the Audubon's/Little complex. Indeed, they're not even the closest relatives of the Galapagos Shearwater, which actually is closer to the Christmas Shearwater." (Boegh, 2007).
