Anser indicus

Identification

71-76cm. Pale grey, black bars on its head.

Distribution

India, Assam, Northern Burma and Pakistan.

Taxonomy

Monotypic.

Habitat

Wetlands; high altitude lakes.

Behaviour

It lays 3-8 eggs in a ground nest.

In summer the diet includes grass; in winter it feeds on barley, rice and wheat.
