Genus: Eulacestoma
Description
This genus contains just one species from New Guinea.
It has a distinctive, deep bill and the male has wattles on the side of the head.
Taxonomy
Eulacestoma is a genus in the Family Pachycephalidae.
The exact affinities of this species are still unclear. Due to similarities in bill morphology it's often regarded beeing close to the Shrike-tit and even placed with the latter in the family Falcunculidae. But apart from the bill there is not more evidence for a close relationship.
Now placed in the monotypic family Eulacestomidae by Gill and Donsker.
