Genus: Opisthocomus

Description

Fossil remains of birds closely related to the Hoatzin has been identified in both Europe and Africa south of the Sahara demonstrating a much wider distribution in the distant past.

Taxonomy

Opisthocomus is a genus in the family Opisthocomidae.
