Overview
Glacier Bay National Park covers 3.3 million acres in the Inside Passage of Alaska. It has deep sheltered fjords, wild coastlines, enormous glaciers, temperate rainforest, and rugged mountains. It is part of a 25 million acre World Heritage Site and can only be accessed by boat or plane. Thousands of seabirds, geese, sea ducks and Bald Eagles make their home here. About 240 species of birds have been recorded here.

Areas of Interest
There are many areas recommended as birding locations:
- Park Visitor Center, Bartlett Cove, Bartlett River Estuary, Gustavus and Beardslee Islands.
- Island and Cliff Seabird Colonies like those located at South Marble Island, Lone Island, South Russell Islands, Boussoule Head, Cenotaph Island and cliffs south of Margerie Glacier.
- Remote islets such as those in Adams Inlet, Hugh Miller Inlet and Dundas Bay.
- Marine Feeding Sites such as Point Carolus, Point Gustavus and Sitakaday Narrows.
Other areas of interest:
- Tarr Inlet ~ the northwest arm of Glacier Bay
- Grand Pacific Glacier ~ originating in the Saint Elias Mountains, on the border of Alaska and British Columbia, and flowing into the top of the Tarr Inlet
- Margerie Glacier ~ originating in the Fairweather Range and flowing into the western side of the Tarr Inlet, very near the Grand Pacific Glacier
Access and Facilities
Glacier Bay National Park is west of Juneau, AK, and can only be reached by air or sea. Daily jet service (30 minutes) is available on Alaska Airlines from Juneau to Gustavus in the summer season. Many visitors tour Glacier Bay on board cruise ships and tour boats.
