- Dark glossy green upperparts
- Narrow rufous line above lores
- Pale yellow collar
Distribution
South America: found in south-eastern Nicaragua to northern Bolivia, eastern Paraguay and southern Brazil.
Taxonomy
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1].
- C. i. inda - southeastern Nicaragua and the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica to northern Colombia and, east of the Andes, from Colombia to the Guianas and south to Bolivia, Paraguay, and eastern Amazonian Brazil; also southeastern Brazil
- C. i. chocoensis - western Colombia and western Ecuador
Habitat
They favour dark habitat along streams or inside forest ponds.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of fish, shrimps and crabs.
