Aethopyga mystacalis

Identification

Distribution

Endemic to Java.

Taxonomy

Recently split from Aethopyga temminckii (Temminck's Sunbird) which is found in south-western Thailand, the Malaysian peninsula, Borneo and Sumatra. When together, these two were known as Scarlet Sunbird.

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and montanes.
