Identification

Distribution

South America: found in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

This species is the only member of its genus.

Subspecies

Two subspecies are recognized[1]:

  • S. l. lalandi:
  • Eastern Brazil (southern Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo and north-eastern São Paulo)
  • S. l. loddigesii:

These two subspecies has been suggested to be two full species

Atlantic forest and forest edges, observed at heights of 7200 feet. Moves to lower levels in the winter.
