Distribution
South America: found in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.
Taxonomy
This species is the only member of its genus.
Subspecies
Two subspecies are recognized[1]:
- S. l. lalandi:
- Eastern Brazil (southern Minas Gerais to Espírito Santo and north-eastern São Paulo)
- S. l. loddigesii:
These two subspecies has been suggested to be two full species
Habitat
Atlantic forest and forest edges, observed at heights of 7200 feet. Moves to lower levels in the winter.
