Distribution

Sulawesi and Buton, Muna, Banggai and Sula Islands, Indonesia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
It was formerly placed in the genus Spizaetus.

Habitat

Rainforests.

Behaviour

The diet includes birds, lizards, snakes and mammals.
