- Black upperparts, with many white spots and bars
- Dark streaked underparts
- Red belly patch
- Brown cheek and neck patches

Distribution
Asia: found in China, Nepal,
South Asia: Pakistan, India, Western Himalayas, Sri Lanka
Southeast Asia: Indochina, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand
