Very busy at the bird feeder today! (3 Viewers)

Happy 2011 to all.

Good to see a wren passing through - especially in the light of their population crash following the '62-'63 Winter. Not much else here though with species and overall numbers noticeably down since the big freeze.

Happy new year to everyone.

A siskin was my first bird of the year, and the list is currently on 16, with 20 Lesser Redpolls easing my hangover.

BFB - well done on 22 already. Superb effort!

Happy New Year everyone!

First bird I saw this morning was a female sparrowhawk gliding over the garden, At the feeders this morning,
Moorhen x3
Blackbirds
Goldfinch
Greenfinch
Robin
Dunnock
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Wood Pigeon
Collared Dove
B H Gull (fly over)
Crow( (fly over)

Happy New Year everyone! Hope it's happy, healthy, prosperous and full of wonderful birds!

I've been busy getting breakfast (yes, this late!!) and watching out of the kitchen window... all looked dull and dismal and drizzly, no birds... then all at once loads of sparrows launched from the bushes onto the feeders... lovely!! They never fail to cheer me up.

Next a collared dove, then a goldfinch. I'm off out in a bit so won't be able to spend much time watching but tomorrow hopefully will be a good day! Best of luck to everyone watching today... hope the new year brings you lots of lovely visitors.

Just in the last five minutes, 7 starlings, a blackbird, 5 goldfinches, several house sparrows, a woodpigeon, and a dunnock. Only 6 for me so far! Edit: 7, forgot the collared dove!

Happy New Year everybody.

I am sat watching 5 really aggressive starlings squabbling with each other,
1 blackcap who thinks the fat tray is his,
the pied wagtail with yellow cheeks who spends most of the day here,
6 blue tits,
the 6 chaffinches who are very quiet today,
2 sparrows (the rest must have gone visiting elsewhere),
1 great tit,
1 goldfinch,
3 blackbirds,
2 collared doves,
1 robin
1 dunnock
2 jackdaws

Bongofury, I haven't seen my funny little bird since but my son got a shot of it yesterday and forgot to put it on my computer. When we looked closely and compared it to a juvenile house sparrow it looked very similar, so unfortunately I don't think it is as exciting as I would have hoped for.
Do you count the gulls that sit on the chimneys of all our bungalows and cry like babies at each other?
I nearly forgot the giant sized crow that came down to the feeders yesterday and tried to take the whole suet block. It fell!!!
Oh how I long for some of your exciting birds, (not that I don't like the ones I have got but some people are never happy);)
Update, 9 starlings, making such a racket!!!

Collared Dove
Woodpigeon
Chaffinch (tons)
GreenFinch
Goldfinch
Brambling
House Sparrow
Tree Sparrow
Moorhen (very funny to watch as it flies up into the bushes and walks along the branches)
Blue Tit
Coal Tit

There'll be other birds knocking around but I haven't seen them yet and I'm off to watch telly now so they'll have to wait till tomoz.

Just 9 in my garden but the highlight was a flock of 20+ Long-tailed Tits covering my feeders for a good five minutes or so at 2.45pm. A feeding frenzy and lovely to watch. I haven't had Dunnock or House Sparrows since the freezing weather started a couple of weeks ago. Woodpigeon, Blackbird, Robin, Goldfinch, Starling, Magpie, Blue and Coal Tits plus the Lt Tit invasion make up my count for today.:t::t:

Good counts from everyone and a good selection. Today ended with 18, but would have been higher if my gulls-in-flight skills were better. They are probs Lesser BBs, but I can't be sure enough to count them. More annoying was Mr GSW not showing up today - or at least not since I struggled out of bed...

Siskin, Lesser Redpoll, Blackbird, Starling, Magpie, Robin, Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Feral Pigeon, Coal Tit, Goldfinch, Bullfinch, Carrion Crow, Great Tit, Dunnock, Song Thrush, Woodpigeon, Goldcrest.

Deffo! I count anything I see from the house or garden. At the end of the day, its your list, your rules. However, gulls are never the easiest thing to ID:-O

Happy New Year Everyone!

Today’s been a pretty busy day so far! The last 3-4 days have been really rainy, so it’s been keeping the feeder traffic down. Now it’s a bright sunny day and the temp has dropped, so I’m seeing a lot more visitors.

15+ House Sparrows with a White Crowned Sparrow mixed in
75+ Starling (Luckily they all stayed on the ground cleaning up seed!!)
3 Blue Jays
1 Male and Female Cardinal
1 Mourning Dove
1 Robin
(All in about 30 minutes, so I’m sure more varieties will show up during the day.)

A few days before the rain and storms we had a lot of new seasonal visitors.
2 Slate Juncos
2 White Crowned Sparrows
And My Red-Bellied Woodpecker returned.

Happy Birding everyone and Happy New Year!

Great vid of the Goldfiches there! Any other birds you gonna try and record?

Hope everyone is having a good new year. Bird wise, a good start for me as well. Only seen a couple hours of the garden today mind, but pleased that managed to catch what I did.

Jay
Coal Tit
Blue Tit
Great Tit
Dunnock
Robin
Chaffinch
Greenfinch
Blackbird
