Poor Dennis, feeling all upset and threatened by a review that put SF at the top of the ladder. You just have to try and hit back don't you?

Binomania has a good comparison of SF, SV and UV+ and likes the SF better. He calls SF "the king of birdwatching".

Binomania also say that SF has lowest contrast than Leica and Swaro and the CA correction is lowest than KOWA genesis, despite his ultra FL concept, 2 fluorite lenses on each barrel and the long long focal length of this bin.

In fact is as long as a 50 mm front lens bins .......this helps A LOT !!!!!! to the optical designers.

Yeah i know............finally it depends of the kind of view that every person prefers.

I really appreciate the light transmission and the ability of SF to resolve details in low light and how the optics are able to pick up subtle details as you say, but for me is not a everyday binocular.

Lacks of the extra punch that competence have on bright days,lower definition, and for me during daytime the SF is not my cup of tea.

During long winter and short & cloudy days............well we will see.

I will follow it very close too many things have been said about SF true or not i don't Know.

The best way to know is SF is a successful model is SALES.

And according with binomania Zeiss has plenty or orders for the SF.......so must be for something

By the end LIFE is easier.........because why can Choose.

IF people want very bright binocular, Big FOV and immersive view.....Buy a ZEISS.

If you like pure color, ultra sharp view with a classic optical formula...buy a Leica.

If you want something balance, very well design with nice contrast and sharp to the edge view buy an Swaro.

So easy so nice all of them !!!!!

I have BMW but for sure i will be happy with a Mercedes as well.

Their web store shows books, that was all I see. I suspect it was just the over all superior performance of the SF that led them to that conclusion. :t:


You really have a hard time letting go, to be safe, you really ought to buy an SF to go with your swaros, that way you could say you have the two best in the world, and it would give the rest of us a break from your incessant whining and arguments if someone says they like the SF better than others. It really gets old.

I really think I would try the SV 10x50 first. I was really blown away by it. You should try one. No matter how good the Zeiss 10x42 SF is it is hard to compete with a 10x50. The laws of physics just make more of a difference than coatings and prisms especially when you get to the alpha level. Put a 50mm Swaro objective on a binocular and you are going to have one sweet view let me tell you.

I dont want one, nor do I want an SF. What I want is a BMW R1200GSA, but what I am getting is a new waterpump and steering cables in the boat, new tires for the camper, 4 new tires and struts for the wifes SUV, new power steering pump for my truck. If I start riding my current bike more, at least enough to justify a new scoot, then maybe I'll look at a GSA. But I still wont find an SV or SF attractive enough to buy one. The Prime HD and the Conquest HD more than handle any needs I have.

If you want a warm tone, 3-D view, the widest FOV view available, and a BMW view at a Kia price, buy a Nikon EII. :smoke:

I wouldnt say I have owned a lot, but I am 58 years old and have owned one since I was 10 years old. I've had right shift, left shift, one up four down, one down four up, four straight down with a neutral at the end. I have had off roads, sport bikes, cruisers and tourers. I have ridden 1,000 miles in a day and I have gone months with out riding. I will say like binoculars, no bike does it all.

My current bike might hit 100 without all the tank bags, panniers, trunk and windshield on it, but then I couldnt carry what I wanted. These days I'm in the rides far camp instead of ride fast. If you see this trunk, say hi.

Our last bike was a BMW R90/5 and before that an R60/6 (see pic).

We really fancy that GSA too but we carry too much gear these days.
