Hi Ian, is the Grasshopper Warbler around the bottom Carpark area?

Thanks

Andy

Yep! Two were present this morning. One could be heard from the car park and another towards the screen. That one was showing very well this morning in the brambles right on the edge of the path both sides of the path, though it moves between three different patches that I've seen.

Teesside - Yesterday

Early start, hoping to get better photos of the Grasshopper Warbler and the Whimbrel.
Only heard the one grasshopper warbler at Dormans, which showed well, occassionally sitting on top of the brambles and flying from one bush to another. Although it never came realy close, I was still more than pleased to see It out in the open, despite the dull and windy conditions.
Called at Cowpen Marsh to check on the Whimbrel, there were approx, 20 birds, which flew off, shortly after my arrival, after being disturbed by a flock of greylags. They flew Eastward towards the coast.
Having had better views of the Whimbrel, we checked North Gare and Zinkworks road, where we only saw skylark, shell duck, lapwing and mipits, before heading to South Shields.

Hartlepool area today on foot, 15 miles covered, highlights include marsh and long tailed tits nesting, 4 gsw pairs on territory, 3 common buzzard, garden, grasshopper and willow warblers in fine voice but best of all was a green woodpecker in an area I haven't seen them for 18 years. All in all 73 species seen, a really enjoyable day.

Hi There,

Could anyone please ID this bird for me..

Seen on the moors, seemingly just hanging on the wind, at some points appearing to be completely static in mid air. When flying it had slow 'flappy' wingbeats and was mobbed a few times by Lapwings and Jackdaws / Crows...

Apologies for the poor shot but it is a hefty crop as the bird must have been approx 1/2 mile away..

An unusual angle, but a buzzard. Good focus for a long-distance shot.
