Very warm today, so no surprise that I saw my first Orange Tip, Green-veined White, Small White and Comma (as well as the first local Holly Blue).

At last. Yesterday glimpsed a Nymphalid which promptly vanished, so not properly identified, but no doubt about today’s male Brimstone!

I've been seeing Peacocks for a couple of weeks, but added Speckled Wood on Friday and a very windblown small white on Saturday.

Yes I've also added Small White & Speckled Wood in recent days. Brimstone & Peacock the most abundant species with another 2 Comma yesterday.

Seven species today at Pulborough: Red Admiral, Peacock, Comma, Orange Tip, Brimstone, Holly Blue, Speckled Wood. More than one of everything except Holly Blue and it really felt like a spring day despite the wind. Large Red Damselfly to add to the fun and all three newts showing in the pond.

Two Holly Blue and a small tortoiseshell were additions today. Still no Comma or Orange Tip

Only seen two butterflies in the last few weeks - a Red Admiral briefly in the front garden, and then today, whilst on the phone I happened to look out the bedroom window and a small brownish butterfly in the wind - fortunately it landed about 6 feet away - a nice fresh Speckled Wood.

Things took off today, first Speckled wood, Holly Blue, and Green Veined White, a few other unidentified whites and lots of brimstone, peacock and comma

My first Orange Tip, Large and Small Whites today

My first Orange Tip and Holly Blue in the garden (S. Hants) on 16/04 this week. Then both again on 18/04 and a Hummingbird Hawkmoth. First Small White on 19/04.

Still a struggle to see butterflies, although just about daily Peacock in the garden or elsewhere now. Two Holly Blues in town a week ago whilst waiting in the Health Centre car park, and a newly hatched stick insect sp. in the car 2 days ago (I'd been clearing brambles from the garden).
