This little guy made a brief showing as I was photographing woodpeckers, any idea as to what it is?...I am in eastern north carolina USA

Not too good with Warblers by site, more by ear but I will give it a shot and be corrected later. It's a Dendroica species, perhaps a Yellow-Rumped Warbler?
 
Yellow-rumped (aka Myrtle) Warbler. They usually stay around for the winter even up here in northern NJ so keep eye out for more in your area. I enjoy seeing them in the dreary winter months.
