Hi, i was hoping to nail down this ID. I thought it was a great kiskadee but now am not so sure. I too this in Drake bay on the Osa Peninsula July 28. It was in a tree in town.

Thanks,

Craig

I am not positive but I think the lower mandible has a straight lower edge which to me indicates Boat-billed F rather than Great K?

No not that. Gives a different impression, and on first image (96) we can see it doesn't have the massive curved bill of boat-billed.

I'm looking at white, eye stripes which are bold enough near the nape, to suggest they may meet? Bill too slight maybe?

Great Kiskadee, the bill shape is perfect. Obviously best IDed by the unmistakeable call, but if it wasn't heard, I would still be pretty sure of this one.
