We are travelling to Taos, NM in February and hope to spend at least a day out birding. Has anyone any suggestions as to good places within reach to bird for a day. Thanks

I've had pretty good birding for woodpeckers and passerines along the Cimarron River corridor below Eagle's Nest dam. Combine that with Eagle's Nest Lake, in the town of Eagle's Nest (could have loons, ducks, depending on how frozen it is), and you've got a decent day of birding. The areas around the Rio Grande gorge and the between Angel Fire and Eagle's Nest should be good for raptors.

Best of luck.
