Some French Mysteries (4 Viewers)

congratulations to those that said Green Sandpiper, Wood sandpiper, Little Ringed Plover, White Wagtail, Blue-headed Wagtail and Water Pipit.

and woodlark and ortolan wins it - though had I not seen the ortolans fly in, I would have perhaps called them as pears, perhaps the most anticlimactic lifer I've ever had. 6 ortolans had been seen at the site the day before, so very much needing them, I headed over the next day searching frantically before I had to be at work. Just as I was about to give up, two small birds flew in and landed in a field a good distance away. I got them in the scope to see they were a nice orangey colour underneath and seemingly greyish on the head. "That must be them" I thought, but then thought "Oh, they'll just be linnets". Luckily they started to feed and I managed to get a little closer. Not great views, as you can see!

more shockingly bad photography!
