A report of a Black Stork high over Tice's Meadow on 17 Jul at 1600hrs. This potential sighting follows the one seen along the A30 at nearby Yateley the day before. Shame the sighting wasn't confirmed.

Four Red Kite's over the Hogsback near Tices Meadow this morning. Over where the round bales are in the field across the other side of the A31.

A hot day, so not many folk about.

At least 6 Green Sandpipers, 5 Common Sandpipers and 1 Dunlin yesterday in the workings. Lapwing numbers have increased and the first Teal have returned. Confirmed breeding of Tufted Duck with eight ducklings.

A reports of a Wryneck on Saturday was probable eronous.

The 2016 Tice's Waderfest (TM) got into gear today with 2 Greenshank, a Ruff, 2 Ringed Plover, 6 Common Sandpipers and 3 Green Sandpipers. A Hobby flypast was also a highlight.

Make sure you visit soon to see what you can find.

The wader fest continued yesterday along with a rare visit by Dave Baker. A fly over Peregrine was also a highlight. Unable to confirm numbers of Green and Common Sandpipers as they were very flighty.

16 Lapwing
1 Ruff
4+ Common Sandpiper
5+ Green Sandpiper
1 Redshank (poss 2)
1 Greenshank
6 Ringed Plover
1 Black-tailed Godwit
1 Dunlin

The habitat is just right for a continuation of drop in waders over the next few weeks. 24 hours on site next week during the Army Ornithological Society ringing session should prove very interesting.

This place is still clearly 'Surrey's Best Birdwatching site'.

The juvenile Black Tern continues to commute between Tice's and Badshot Lea Fishing Ponds. This has been a good week with this species now in its 8th day. In the last week (most notably last Tuesday) we've had Honey Buzzard, Ruff, Black-tailed Godwit, Turnstone, Ring Plover and Dunlin.
