Tomtit? (1 Viewer)

Please, can anybody help me with the idnetification of this bird?

I supposed that it is Tomtit, however I don't see white wingbar. So it most resembles South Island Robin.

I observed it at South island at Routenburn track.

Thank you for help!

Ivan

Thank you! I also think that it is South Island Robin but it is uncommon bird and Tomtit was mentioned as common bird at this region - so I ask other people for their opinion.

Of course.... no problem to me Ivan. I've never seen one for real. But opening your picture it just shouted 'robin' to me LOL

It's a good spot for South Island Robin, I don't know why anyone gave the impression they were uncommon!

Thank you!

However South Island Robin is mentioned as "Uncommon endemic" at The Hand Guide to the Birds of New Zealand by H. Robertson & B. Heather (3rd Edition, 2015)
