Genus: Ianthocincla
Description
A genus which is not (yet) accepted by most authorities. If accepted it would contain eight or nine species:
- Snowy-cheeked Laughingthrush
- Moustached Laughingthrush
- Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush
- Chestnut-eared Laughingthrush
- Barred Laughingthrush
- White-speckled Laughingthrush
- Giant Laughingthrush
- Spotted Laughingthrush
- Brown-capped Laughingthrush (also placed in Trochalopteron)
They all have pale, usually white tips on at least the tertials and secondaries. Also bold white (on one case rusty) tips on the rectrices are shared.
Taxonomy
Ianthocincla is a genus in the Family Timaliidae.
This genus is commonly merged in the genus Garrulax.
