Taxi prices around Bangkok (1 Viewer)

I am off to Thailand in a couple of weeks and was just wondering if anybody can give me an idea of what I should expect to pay for a half day trips from Bangkok in a taxi, eg Khok Kham, Bang Poo etc.

thanks in advance.

Hi Robert,
There are some great places to bird around Bangkok. When I was there in early 2007 I did a day trip down to Samut Sakhorn for Spoon-billed Sandpiper and it ran me about 2500 Baht. This was arranged through a rather nice hotel, so I'm sure you could get a better deal elsewhere. Have a great time in Thailand. It has some amazing birds!

Cheers,
Benji

You can use the BTS (sky train) to get from one side of Bangkok to the other. It's cheap, quick and easy. During the busy traffic times, this will get you across town a lot quicker.

The subway is also very nice... and cheap.

If you're not planning on staying in the birding spots too long, use a metered taxi. If you don't know how long you'll be in the birding spots, try to negotiate the price ahead of time. Warning, it's likely that the price will change if everything isn't crystal clear from the beginning.

A taxi from the town centre to Muang Boran Marshes or Bang Poo will cost a little under 200 baht. You may have to pay for a toll road depending on which way the driver goes.

I would have thought 1000-1500 baht for samut sakon was quite sufficient.
