There is a fairly detailed comparison of a range of digital recording devices in the latest BBC Wildlife magazine. Has anyone seen it? Do you agree with the conclusions?

I was expecting the Olympus to win of those selected, from other reviews I've read.
The Sony PCM-M10 was not mentioned. It has better quieter mics than these and its predcessor the D50 and is cheaper - though if you are going to use external v quiet mics the D50 could still be better.
The advantage these have is a pre-record buffer. Wait, hear the song, press pause and you've caught the previous 5 sec. saves a lot of time later on.
Looking at the the Solid State sound site (http://www.solidstatesound.co.uk/sony_pcm-m10.htm) theres an interesting case with built in speakers due out for the M10. This could appeal to some.
