Black-Necked Stilt - young chick (Himantopus mexicanus)

A young black-necked stilt hasn't developed his typical colors yet - mom and dad were nearby calling alert when other birds got too close. Photographed in the Wakodahatchee Wetlands.
Habitat
Wetlands
Location
Boynton Beach, Florida
Date taken
22 May, 2010
Scientific name
Himantopus mexicanus
Equipment used
Sony DSLR-A550, Tamron 200-500mm lens
Aside from mallard ducklings, I don't think I have ever seen a baby wild bird. Beautiful photo.
