Resaca savanna with Tamaulipan Scrub and scattered ponds in the South Texas Plains vegetational area at ca. 23 m (75 ft) elevation. Moving water in a canal feeding the ponds.

Estero Llano Grande State Park, Weslaco, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.

I suspect that this bird is a busy - body, Stanley. Seems to be on the 'starting' blocks.
