Bullock's Oriole juv
The youngsters keep arriving and the feeders are constantly full of both the bullock's and the hooded orioles. Since they're always sticking together, it amazes me that there aren't hybrids around.
Location
Kelseyville, CA.
Date taken
07-19-15
Scientific name
Icterus bullockii
Equipment used
Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 100-400
stunning capture vicki and great info maybe one day you will be posting one of your brilliant captures of a hybrid.many tfs.all the best margaret.

Lovely juve and image! Can't say for sure why there are no hybrids, but maybe they only form mixed flocks after they've paired off for the season?? Just a hypothesis. If I taught biology I could maybe get a student to study them, but that's not my subject.
