Cottonwood Borer (Plectrodera scalar: Cerambycidae) They range in length from 2.2- 4.0 cm (0.87-1.6 in). Photographed on an eastern cottonwood tree (Populus deltoides: Salicaceae).

This will be my last post for a week or so. I will be on line tonight to look at pictures and make comments. My wife and I are going to West Texas to Alpine and Fort Davis. Two areas we lived in for a few years, 40 plus years ago.
Habitat
Post Oak Savannah vegetation area. At the edge of a riparian woodland along Carters Creek at ca. 84 m (276 ft) elevation.

That's a rather attractive borer, with some nice markings on it Stanley.
