Giant Swallowtail Butterfly Caterpillar (Papilio cresphontes)

Giant Swallowtail Caterpillar (Papilio cresphontes: Papilionidae). Looks a bit like bird poop. A great deterrent to keep predators from looking closely. On a leaflet of Hercules-club in my front yard.

Post Oak Savannah vegetation area, urban, manicured neighborhood with native and non-native plants at ca. 91 m (300 ft) elevation.
