Guianan Screech-Owl (Megascops watsonii)

Characteristics
It measures 19 and 23 cm in length and weighs between 114 and 172 g. It has a dark back with color varying between brown and gray. Light underparts with streaks and tufts of feathers on top of the head. Iris is brown.

Habitat
Predominant Biome: Amazon - Geographic distribution As its name suggests, it is endemic to the Guyana Center of Endemism, north of the Amazon River, east of the Rio Negro and east of the Rio Branco, passing through the states of Amazonas, Pará, Roraima and Amapá. Outside Brazil, it lives in the Guianas and southeastern Venezuela. In the west and south of the Amazon it is replaced by the clock owl, the Xingu owl and the Belém owl.
