Hopping in hope
The reed bunting was on the snow hoping that the goldfinches were messy eaters. And if one can be sure of anything, it is that goldfinches have the worst table manners. Their leftovers feed all the pigeons, chaffinches and now the reed bunting as well.

That’s a little tough! Glad the Goldfinch are messy eaters (although I would have to argue my Greenfinch are worse, they eat with their mouths open, looking all around at the same time with half chewed food falling out of the side of their mouth - very rude 😁)

I get that completely. Unfortunately we have very few green finches nowadays. They have only started returning recently.
 
Oh, lovely shot, and so detailed! Down to the snow flying around one foot. Was he scratching, or had he just hopped?
