An excellent capture of this compact little woodpecker Ove. The streaking below is shown perfectly, a feature I was unaware of. Brilliant work.

The care home I'm in happens to be just a hundred yards from where I last saw a LSW, some time in the early 1990s. It was an unexpected encounter at very close quarters. They’re just so small! It's highly unlikely one will appear outside my window, but the camera is always at hand…
