Northern Shoveler (female)
Northern Shoveler (Spatula clypeata) Female. I am going to the coast for 4-5 days even though the weather is not promising. I will not post during this time but hopefully I will be able to do some viewing.
Habitat
Gulf Coast Prairies and Marshes Vegetational Area. Shoveler pond (freshwater).
Location
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, Chambers County, Texas, USA.

A real beauty Stanley, lovely fine patterning. The twinkle in the eye and the characteristic bill shape somehow combine to give the bird a benevolent and appealing expression. They're delightful birds and this is an equally delightful image.
