Scarlet Tanager (male)
Scarlet Tanager (Piranga olivacea) Species sexually dimorphic. Photographed in Smith Oaks, one of four bird sanctuaries owned by the Houston Audubon Society in High Island situated on Bolivar Peninsula, Galveston County, Texas, USA. High Island is a salt dome that sits right on the Gulf of Mexico and is the highest point anywhere along the Gulf of Mexico from Mobile Alabama to the Yucatn Peninsula, Mexico at 11.6 m (38 ft). Smith Oaks is a coastal woodland dominated by Southern Live Oak, Cedar Elm, Sugarberry also known as hackberry, and Yaupon. Photographed in a Sugarberry/Hackberry.
