Should you get the chance to be in the general area again, I'd like to suggest another spot you'd probably enjoy called Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina
A lot of nice statuary, gardens that can't help but support numbers of birds. It, or parts of it, used to be an old rice plantation.
According to Google Maps, it's approximately 2 hours and 81 miles all, depending on your route taken, north of Charleston South Carolina.
