Tufted ducks (Aythya fuligula)

It was misty with some rain this morning when I went down to the boat club to take some more flight shots.
When I looked at the pictures in the computer, I thought that it would be fun to post three pictures that taken today.
The Whooper Swan pictures will be posted later.
These were the first Tufted Ducks of the year.

Amazing capture of these ducks.
I arrived at the pond @ noon, had a chat with the geese, found oats that someone recently put out for the waterfowl, looked at the pond and ... two "ducklike" creatures took off ... and flew away very quick. Well, I would say a migrating duck species. Their body was bright, their heads dark and they were clearly smaller than mallards. Guess they arrived sometime between the "oat person" and me. It was very rainy today and not many people were there. I have to look for suitable duck species now.
