Hi Phil on the GBBG I think you may be right I am not always 100% with the gulls but it was much darker than the LBBG sitting next to it on the bean and it was slightly larger as well.
On the Avocets I saw 4 adults and 2 youngsters, the Dunlin 3, didn't get count for Green Sandpiper or Common sorry.
Did see 2 Juv Water Rail in the reed bed on the right of the West Hide Did see 5 Great Crested Crebe on the Moors Poool and 4 on the sailing pool hope this helps.

Kind Regards

BCB

Hi Adrian - thanks for the figures; think it proves there has been a constant flow of Dunlin through the Flashes in the last week. The Lessers we get at Upton can be highly variable in terms of the shade of the mantle and their size, anything from just larger than a Common Gull to equal to a Herring Gull.

This morning from 0545

SAILING POOL
6 GC Grebe, Kingfisher, 30 Mallard, juv Pied Wagtail

FLASHES
8 Avocer, 11 Green Sand, 3 Common Sand, 5 Lapwing, 5 LRP, 1 Teal, 3 juv Shelduck, Yellow Wagtail briefly, 110 BH Gulls, 185 Mallard, 2 Mute Swan, 40 Goldfinch (incl many juvs), 1 Grey Heron, 3 Tufted Duck

Female Redstart sighted again yesterday in the hedge near the main hide.

MOORS POOL
2 Mute Swans + 3 cygnets, 9 GC Grebe (some duplication with the Sailing Pool), 4 Cormorant, 1 Grey Heron, 18 Canada Geese, 14 Tufted Duck, 21 BH Gull, 101 Mallard, 40 Coot, Nuthatch calling from the southern boundary. 3 House Sparrows on Wire Watch, immature Peregrine perched up in the oak tree on the southern boundart

I was unfortunate to encounter three foxes this morning - one trotting along the boardwalk by the Hen Pool, another in the field behind the third Flash and finally one in front of the East Hide at the Moors. I note the Rob observed one hoovering up the remaining late emerging BH Gull chicks at the Moors last wekend.

Please note its the Trust's policy not to provide bins in the hides at the Flashes; can visitors please not leave any rubbish in the hide and take it home with youselves.

In addition, 3 curlews at the flashes which had increased to 14 by 10.30am, several lapwings also. 2 kingfishers seen from the Bittern hide around 7 am, one sat on the post in front stayed several minutes, caught 3 fish. Little owl on the chimney at the farm

If it is Tawny Owl primary it will have small 'fluffy' edge to it. Looks like a Buzzard primary

Recent images:

1. Gull from today at the Moors.
2. Grebes displaying today.
3. Hobby today.
4. Peregrine around the masts.
5. Curlew

Rob

Hobby looks like a 2cy or 1st summer bird due to less intense red between the legs, brown flight feathers with faint rufous tips to the coverts. Rather than pale inbetween the legs and obvious rufous tips to the coverts.

Dunlin pic taken at Flashes this evening. They certainly like being close to each other, just like the wife and I.;)
