Strange question...

I have not used a spotting scope in 9 years, and that one was ancient as well.
But, I was wondering if the newer spotting scopes are "easier" to look through, compared to just looking through binocular using a single eye?

Its a bit finicky looking through a 15x56 binoculars with just one eye...
Is a spotting scope eyepiece constructed different to make it easier?

A spotting scope objective has a longer focal length than a binocular of the same aperture.

So the view is likely to be better.

Why would one use one eye with a binocular, unless the other eye has problems?
If using a binocular with one eye, then just put the objective cover over the unused barrel, and relax ones eyes.
However, a binocular is easier to hold steady than a monocular.

Using a spotting scope also presents difficulties as people try to shut the other eye causing strain.
One can cover the unused eye with an eye patch.

I trained my eyes from a young age to keep both open and ignore the view from the other eye.
But it takes practice.

Hahahahaha you are doing what? No.

Tripod, cable tie sight, did I mention tripod? Cable tie sight.

Trying to simulate a spotting scope by holding a binocular is just going to get you all tied up in knots.

Tripod makes life a breeze. Cable tie sight doubly so.

Try a 2x multiplier or booster from Opticron or similar.

Secondhand they are sometimes good value and good condition also.
I got a Swarovski at a good price.
Maybe 2.5x, I'll check.

However, the binocular optics should be good.

So.. I am considering a spotting scope..

So, to see if I could handle a spotting scope, instead of a binocular, I used my 15x to just check if I could sit with one eye over a few minutes.
It wasn't that comfortable... thinking maybe its because its a Binocular.

So I was wondering if Spotting scope eye piece is more "comfortable and easier" to see through with one eye..

Sometimes squinting can get uncomfortable, covering the non-observing eye can help so you can keep it open. If you want more power (especially useful at many bird locations) then the easiest way is to get a spotter. If you need to use two eyes then I can recommend large angled (and heavy) binocular telescopes, you get some odd looks, but the views are great.

Spotting scope is super comfortable when the tripod is right, thebeyebrelief and eye cup sat right... can watch for ages at high mag in comfort.

I also use a straight MM4 50 ED with a fixed 18x wide angle eye piece and I freaking love it even without the tripod. With the tripod in a hide? Bliss.

Hi, I see that you use a fix eyepiece on opticron MM4. I am about to buy a MM4 GA/ED, I don’t like zoom eyepieces, but I seem to not be able to find any fixed eye piece on opticron website.. any idea ?? Thank you

The 24x on the MM4 50 is a beauty.

No idea, as it is a wonderful relaxing view no matter if you get the original version with fold down eyecup or the new twist up jobbie.

One eye viewing using your dominant eye will become second nature…. just give it some time.
