New Retrovid 7x35 (2 Viewers)

Lol, the problem is B&H, Adorama, optics planet and honeycreek bill and beak (swaros/opticron only) are a one seri command away. I even have their apps 😛🙏.
And they not only have Binoculars but scopes....cameras.... etc etc....Just way too tempting..! jim

I need use it but just wasn’t aware of it! Jim
I think they are changing it this January. It will soon be a choice of two different card options. One where theres no interest for one year and the other instant tax reduction discount. The one I have was your choice of which option I want.

I got a few hours comparing side by side the Retrovid 7x35 with the Noctivid 8x42 of a friend. On a heavily overcast day with light rain

The Retrovid was nice. But there was no real contest in terms of optical quality. The Noctivid wins by an obvious margin on sharpness, cleanliness and crystal clarity of the image. The image through the Retrovid was more "grainy" or hazy. The Noctivid has the final percentages of sparkling beauty that only a top tier alpha will have.

I think the Noctivid provides more 3D feel

I was much interest in the difference (if any) in colour rendition. Because i know the Noctivid was super in this regard. It turned out the Retrovid basically retains the colour feel of the Noctivid. Just that the Retrovid was a bit whiter, which I like less.

Once again, the Retrovid performed consistent with its price point. I will wait for a 7x42 or 7x35 Noctivid. And Leica should know that

I would surely think this would be the result....you are comparing a Trinovid to Noctivid .... I have the same combination but a 10x Noctivid and yes, the difference is there but both are good bins, jim

Oh no , you got the retros wet 🤭

Were you expecting there to be anything less. The Noctivid wins by an obvious margin on sharpness, cleanliness and crystal clarity of image against most all binoculars. You’re comparing an entry-level Alpha to the best of the best.

I think we’ll be waiting a long time for 742 or 735 Noctivids.

Paul.

I have the same two and was thinking the 7x42 UVHD is so tempting.

After nearly 3 months of daily use, my retrovid started to have some play in the focuser. When i turn it clockwise and suddenly change direction, it kind of "slip" a bit before catching the movement again. No impact on use yet, but a bit of negative surprise

Pack it up and send right off to Leica repair. IMO, unacceptable for a high end $1200+ pair of binoculars. I just got my 7x42UV back today , three weeks door to door. I asked if they could expedite and they did.
So far no issues with my 7x35 retros.

Good luck

That is disappointing to hear. The old Leitzes were famed for being outstanding mechanically. It's not common to hear about the mechanicals of the old Trinovids, in particular, breaking down, and the hinge and focuser of those I have handled (admittedly only four or five) were, indeed, almost flawless despite their age. Hopefully yours is an isolated case... or/and you are one of those chaps with the touch of a concert pianist or a safe-cracker - I never found the focus wheel of a Habicht as stiff or other Swarovskis as unpleasant as some have.

Is anyone who bought the Retrovid 7x35 displeased with their binoculars to the degree that, in hindsight, they would not have made the purchase?
