Making-of-pics - how do you take your pictures?

I have had tons of these using trail cameras. While many are not suitable for framing, it can be allot of fun.

Has anyone heard of a cammo net "Wall"?

YellowBudgie you would have to use something opaque over the portion behind you or they will be looking straight thru and see you. Also, don't be fooled that because its netting that it won't catch wind, it will, in a big way if its like mosquito netting. I'd recommend rolling them up when you...

Gary how did the hide work out?

    Fayetteville Arkansas, USA

I've lived in several locations in the South and Southeast US most of my life and the Brown Thrasher has been a common sight. I moved to Northwest Arkansas 23 years ago had the climate here was a little cold for them. I typically spend over 200 hours a year in the field and while I've seen some...

    English nicknames for coot?

Mud Hens and Sewer Hens are the only thing other than Coot I've heard

    Hide or Camo?

They work great. If there is a wind the stuff from them disperses but so do the mosquitoes. I have used them in south Arkansas where you would need a blood transfusion if you didn't use something and have been able to sit for several hours in a tree comfortably.

    Hide or Camo?

If you want insect control use a Thermacell. The meshes will interfere with your lens and photographing. Birds like turkeys and crows won't notice you inside so long as you have back windows closed to where they can not see thru and you move slowly. Poking a lens out thru mesh will spook them...

    Hide or Camo?

If you want to try camo and its available, try Natural Gear. Most of the camo I do wear is in that pattern and it basically blends in almost anywhere. Standard military camo may not be very stylish but it tends to blend in most places too.

    Hide or Camo?

Camo outside a blind has some advantages as far as breaking up an outline but the most important thing to do is remain still. Most birds that have not been pressured do not seem to pay much attention to an outline that is not broken up so long as it does not move and most wild mammals will never...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

There are allot of folks in that area that hope that no more are found and that the Cornell team lose credibility. Their lives were turned upside down when the announcement of the discovery was made and they want it back the way it was. To many its "just a woodpecker" and they resent the...

    Ivory-billed Woodpecker (formerly updates)

If they are there I hope there are conclusive photos soon. Knowing the general area I don't find it impossible by any stretch of the imagination that they could be there. However something needs to go one way or another soon as this has rapidly become the butt of many jokes in my state and...

    Hide or Camo?

I do not think the camo per se makes allot of difference. While birds can see color they do not seem to differentiate between camouflaged enclosures or non camo. What seems to help the most with these blinds is if windows are only open on one side creating a darker space inside where you are...

    New to Arkansas

Well I guess one more won't blacken the pot. I live in NW Arkansas and moved here from the central part of the state in 81. Most of my family have been bird watchers and I do a great deal while bowhunting deer from October thru February. There is a wide variety to see from Scissor Tail...

    Hide or Camo?

I'm in the US where blinds and such are very common for hunting so I've had quite a bit of experience with them since my daughter started going with me. I don't know if there is something equivalent in the UK but I have watched a great many Turkeys, Crows, and song birds from these and typically...
